What FindMySponsor does
We publish a searchable copy of the Home Office Register of Licensed Sponsors, exact-name licence verification, conservative location pages, SOC eligibility summaries and a Skilled Worker salary calculator. The connected checking journey is:
Exact sponsor check → SOC eligibility → salary calculation → the relevant GOV.UK source.
Register presence is not evidence that an organisation is hiring, has a vacancy, will sponsor a particular job or that an applicant qualifies for a visa.
Official sources
The sponsor register comes from the Home Office file published on GOV.UK. SOC classifications, eligibility tables, list entries and salary rules come from the current Appendix Skilled Worker and Appendix Skilled Occupations. GOV.UK remains the authority if our summary and the current rule differ.
Each reviewed release records source URLs, retrieval dates, file hashes, row and organisation totals, geography review totals and the trusted history baseline. Network fetching is separate from deployment: production serves the committed, validated artifacts rather than downloading new data during a build.
Organisation identity
We preserve every raw sponsor-register row. For organisation counts, rows are grouped only when their names are equal under conservative normalisation: letter case, Unicode presentation and spacing are normalised, but legal suffixes are not removed and similarity or fuzzy scoring is not used.
The licence checker confirms a result only when the submitted name equals that conservative identity. Substring matches are labelled as possible entries, not verification.
Locations and geography
We preserve the original Home Office Town/City and County values. A controlled table applies only explicit, high-confidence aliases such as a known spelling error. Each conservative organisation is counted once per canonical town, even when several source rows repeat that town.
Country, nation, county, composite, address-like, punctuation-damaged and uncertain values are not guessed into town pages. They remain searchable in the source data but are excluded from indexable location pages or sent for review. A location page therefore describes the source-location records it contains; it is not a claim that every sponsor operating in that wider area is included.
Industry data
The Home Office sponsor register does not provide an industry field. A legacy name-based classification is retained only for internal analytics and debugging with source: name-heuristic and confidence: low. It is not treated as Home Office data, used for indexable SEO claims or used to prove an organisation's sector.
History and changes
History created with older fuzzy organisation keys is classified as legacy and untrusted for public claims. The first snapshot produced with the conservative identity policy is the trusted baseline. Later “first observed” and “no longer present” comparisons use only that model. Raw source snapshots are retained where useful for audit and debugging.
Updating and quality checks
Our scheduled update downloads official sources into staging, validates their structure, hashes, dates, record totals, change thresholds and parser coverage, and rebuilds the public artifacts. Sponsor-register data and immigration-rule data are validated separately. An unexpected rule-table change must produce “manual GOV.UK check required” rather than a guessed classification.
Automated checks cover sitemap parity, canonical consistency, crawlable links, exact identity rules, duplicate location counts, uncertain geography indexation, structured data and obsolete immigration claims. Time-sensitive pages link directly to the official rule used.
Editorial policy and corrections
Content is published under organisation-only authorship by the FindMySponsor Editorial Team. We do not publish paid rankings, infer hiring activity from register presence or describe low-confidence industry categories as official. Material rules claims are reviewed against GOV.UK and dated on the relevant page.
